Post-Match Pitch Invasion Sees Horrific Violence in Port Said

A match between Eyptian premier league teams Al Ahli and al-masry has ended in horrific violence. The Ministry of Health reports up to 73 deaths and up to 1,000 injuries after supporters of Al-Masry invaded the pitch following their team’s victory. The exact sequence of events is still to be determined but footage of the stadium shows supporters attempting to attack Al Ahli players and supporters and reports indicate that security personnel within the stadium may be among the dead. The Ministry of Health is quoted as saying that most injuries resulted from concussions and deep cuts.  Clashes appear to be continuing outside of the stadium following the earlier violence.
